Clearview Home and Auto Glass began in 1993 as a one-man custom glass shop owned and operated by Richard Nelson. The original shop has long since been replaced with two larger facilities and the number of employees has grown to over a dozen. In the last fifteen years it has become Vancouver Island's largest custom glass manufacturer producing insulated double pane glass for use in doors and windows in residential and commercial buildings. Over 40 different window and door manufacturing outfits on Vancouver Island use sealed units from Clearview for their products.

In recent years Clearview has begun investing more in advanced technology for glass manufacturing. Their facility on Bowen Road has a newly acquired computer-controlled glass engraving machine and the shop on Bollinger has both an automated sealed unit manufacturing line and a computer-controlled glass cutting machine.
